Month of December and 2020 totals

December:
Uber/Lyft = 907.52
Bowling Tournaments, Smash Tournaments, Blackjack = 67 (38 in, 105 out)

2019 total = 12693.81. I think I might have missed a month because this is about 2000 less than what I tracked in my weekly journal lol. Whoops.

But in either case, there it is. Soooooo By doing Uber and Lyft part time (about 4 or so hours of driving a day for six days) and doing freelance writing on a seasonal schedule (about 4 hours a day for five days a week looking for clients and finishing their assignments, taking November and December off), I was able to achieve an income right around the poverty line.

Now I'm gonna be honest with myself: I did not spend as much time as I should have with freelance writing. I took lots of time off, opting to go to more bowling tournaments this year alone than the last three combined (I pretty much broke even on the return as far as those are concerned), among other things.

But in either case, I'd like to use this journey as stone cold proof that Caleb is right when all you really need to do to get started with Location Independent Income is to take 15 or so hours a week outside of your normal job and you'll be just fine provided you can live below your means (which I actually prefer lol).

In my case, I was able to do a regular job (I guess Uber and Lyft is regular-ish) part time and location independent stuff part time and I still produced an income that was better than the retail job I wasted nearly a decade at lol. Sure this is before taxes but we'll see how much I owe taxes. I'm guessing about 2k or so.

So yeah, I could have done this a decade ago when I had my minimum wage retail job easily. Could have done freelance writing 15 hours a week, retail job 24 to 32 hours a week, and I would have been more than golden. Probably would have made more money haha.

My goal for 2019 was to reenact the lifestyle I had five years ago: Manage about $800 a month in expenses and spend about $2000 on bowling with 8 to 12 or so weekends off for traveling (to see family, bowling tournaments, Smash tournaments, whatever) and most of December off.

And working a bit less than I did at my retail job (which yielded about $270 a week working 36 hours a week), I was able to accomplish just that.

Uber and Lyft represented about 2/3 of my income this year, making about $50 to $75 a day. Only 4 or 5 hours driving a day.

The other 1/3 or so was from freelance writing. This is with me looking for clients and writing for them in between doing Uber and Lyft, then spending 3 or so hours writing after going to the gym. I did this five days a week, taking Mondays off to write in my blog unless I had an assignment that I really needed to finish up.

This is also with me writing in my blog and stuff for a couple hours a day (and the entire day Monday most of the time). And going to bowling league for about 4 hours a week (7 to 11 every Wednesday) from May until August. So yeah I enjoyed plenty of free time. I enjoyed more free time in 2019 than any given year that I had my full time retail job haha. Seriously holy crap, I must have spent 25% of 2019 not working lol.

Moral = Anybody can achieve location independent income and there are no excuses for anybody. If you want to do location independent income, move to a college town, acquire a part time job, do location independent stuff part time, golden. About 30 hours a week of productivity, still possible to live decent.

With that, I'm announcing the end of this thread as far as my posting in it is concerned. Others can post in it (and I'll respond) but I'm not going to report anything else in it.

For 2020 I'm gonna make a different thread called "road to 30k." I know some of you probably make 30k in a month so feel free to laugh but understand that I wasted my entire 20s and the first third or so of my 30s drinking, doing drugs, dicking around in college, playing video games (and not competitively like I do now), being an internet troll on PUA and incel boards, social media, 4chan, the misc (only bodybuilding troll communities) and other places, watching porn, and other omega male loser activities while phoning things in at my circle k job and competing in bowling tournaments.

So yeah I started from practically nothing at 35 lol.

As comical as this sounds, that's my goal for 2020 and its gonna be more detailed than this was.

The new thread will contain every dollar I have made and spent, as well as more intimate details of how much money goes into the tournaments I enter since I do want to use bowling tournaments, smash tournaments, and blackjack as legit profitable hobbies. I'm really good at all three so if I practice I'll be good.

Looking forward to those numbers.

I'm documenting my experience starting this month, based off your example.

Thank you Brother!

What's your writing niche?
I want to write about mental health, but it is very difficult to find clients who want writers in that niche.
I also want to write about history but again, clients aren't really in too high demand for that kind of stuff.

I've been doing a lot of stuff that the digital marketers don't want to do lol: Reviews, how-to articles, stuff like that.

Nice, I figure the how to stuff has decent demand.

I think the mental health industry is pivoting to mental health being more of a symptom of other domains of health (circadian health, gut health, dietary choices) rather than a domain to treat in of itself, whole avenues of research have fallen fucking flat in that specialisation recently. Difficult niche to go into detail writing wise atm I figure.
